The drive toward infrastructural renewal in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area gained fresh momentum on Friday as the Executive Chairman, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Adegbona Road in Ketu community, Ward Q1.
EpeInsights reports that the project, described as a strategic link road, is expected to ease movement, expand economic opportunities and support the council’s long-term development plan.
The event drew notable political leaders, traditional authorities and community stakeholders, underscoring the importance placed on the project. Among those present was Hon. Olusegun Olulade, former two-term Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency II and currently the Executive Director, Marketing and Customer Centricity at Galaxy Backbone Limited.
Also in attendance were the Council Manager, Mr. Sunday Awobajo; APC Chairman, Hon. Wittu Ajenifuja; Apex Leader, Otunba Nurudeen Yusuf; Chief (Mrs.) S.B. Adekoya; the Regent of Ketu, High Chief Adewale Badru, alongside members of the Alaketu-in-Council; House Leader, Hon. Hassan Mustapha; Majority Leader and Councillor for Ward Q1, Hon. Oluwo Martins Oriyomi; the Chief of Staff, Hon. Jayesimi Ibraheem, as well as other councillors, former supervisors and senior council officials.
Speaking during the ceremony, Chairman Anomo reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to deepen infrastructural development across the LCDA.
He said the Adegbona Road project reflects his commitment to equitable distribution of development across all wards.
“This intervention will not only ease mobility but also stimulate business activities and improve the general well-being of our people,” he said.
Hon. Olusegun Olulade commended the Chairman for what he described as “impactful and commendable leadership,” noting that the administration’s visible achievements continue to bring pride to the constituency.
He encouraged residents to give maximum cooperation to contractors executing various projects across the community.
Olulade also hinted at additional federal-level support for the area, announcing that construction work on the Rala–Oshokeji Road would soon commence. He expressed optimism that the pace of development in Ketu indicates a future of rapid transformation, remarking that government is “clearly committed to turning Ketu into a London of sort.”
In his remarks, the Regent of Ketu, High Chief Adewale Badru, expressed gratitude to the LCDA leadership for bringing what he called “tangible and much-needed development” to the community.
He pledged full cooperation from residents to ensure seamless project execution.
Providing technical details, Engr. Bankole of D.P Engineering Limited said the Adegbona Road would be built with interlocking stones and fitted with covered drainage on both sides.
The project would also include streetlights for improved security and night-time visibility. He assured the community of timely and high-quality delivery.
The event ended with goodwill messages and expressions of enthusiasm from residents, many of whom described the project as a long-awaited development that would significantly uplift the Ketu community.
