The Eshilokun Masha Royal Family of Lagos has announced the passing of its revered patriarch, Alhaji Mohammadu Jimoh Gbadebo Eshilokun Masha.
EpeInsights reports that he died peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the age of 88.
The news comes barely weeks after the final rites for his mother, Mama Eshilokun Masha, who passed away at the extraordinary age of 115.
Alhaji Gbadebo Eshilokun Masha was widely regarded as a man of deep wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to his faith and family. A respected elder, his life was marked by service, strength, and a quiet devotion to the values that shaped both his household and his community.
In a statement released by the family, they described him as “a pillar of wisdom, love, and integrity” who “will be sorely missed but fondly remembered.”
He was laid to rest today at Abari Cemetery in accordance with Islamic rites.
The family has requested prayers for the repose of his soul and strength for those he leaves behind. “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and continue to bless the legacy he left behind,” the family said.
Tributes have begun pouring in from community members and religious leaders, who remember Alhaji Eshilokun Masha as a gentle giant whose life was a guiding light for many.
He is survived by children, grandchildren, and extended family members who continue to uphold the values he lived by.
