A Final Salute to Hon. Attorney Larry Johnson: Eko Club California Bids Farewell to a Pillar of Service

With heavy hearts and profound grief, Eko Club International mourns the sudden passing of Hon. (Attorney) Larry Johnson, a respected leader, beloved brother and tireless servant of the organisation, who was until his passing a key figure in the Eko Club Houston Chapter and a revered friend to members across all chapters.

Olatunji Anthonio “OBA” of the California Chapter, Attorney Larry Johnson was remembered as “a rare gem, a humble soul, a gentleman, a true leader,” whose presence lit up rooms and whose service to ECI was nothing short of extraordinary.

“You were not just a member; you were a pillar,” the tribute stated. “A committed leader. A generous giver. A man of integrity who always stood for the truth and for the less privileged.”

Hon. Johnson held several key roles within the ECI family, including President of the Eko Club Houston Chapter and Legal Adviser of the global body.

He was also an active member of the ECI Dream Team, working closely with President Emeritus Otunba T.J. Abass during a transformative period in the organization’s history.

His colleagues and friends speak of a man whose leadership was defined not by title, but by character — calm, dependable, full of laughter, and deeply principled. His service was rooted in humility and driven by a genuine desire to uplift others.

“You answered the call of service time and again, as President of Eko Club Houston, as a legal guide, and most importantly, as a friend to many across chapters. You did it all with grace, with purpose, and with love,” Hon. Anthonio wrote.

Hon. Johnson’s untimely death said to have occurred during a trip to Cancun, Mexico, where he had gone to celebrate a friend’s 70th birthday has left the entire ECI community shaken.

His passing serves as a somber reminder of life’s fragility.

“Ti iku ba pa ojugba eni, o we ni o pa fun ni,” the tribute reflects. “His absence has cleansed our spirits and shaken our pride. It calls us to live with more humility, more compassion, and deeper dedication, just as he did.”

As Eko Club International continues to grieve, members find comfort in the memories and the legacy Hon. Larry Johnson leaves behind, one of unity, service, and unwavering loyalty to the mission of the organization.
