In a renewed push to maintain cleaner and safer roadways, the Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has undertaken a comprehensive clearance of the road verge along the stretch from Jetty to Apakin.
EpeInsights learnt that the exercise, executed by the Environmental Department of the council, was carried out on the directive of the Executive Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE).
According to the council boss, the move is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that roads within Lekki LCDA remain clean, accessible and free from obstructions that could endanger road users or impede traffic flow.
Speaking on the initiative, Engr. Kasali reiterated his administration’s commitment to environmental sanitation and urban order.
He emphasized that keeping public spaces tidy is not solely the responsibility of the government but a shared duty between the council and residents.
“A clean environment is a healthy environment. I urge all residents and business owners to refrain from dumping refuse on road verges. Together, we can make Lekki LCDA a model of cleanliness and order,” he said.
The chairman further encouraged residents to embrace proper waste disposal practices and support the council’s environmental drive by reporting cases of indiscriminate dumping to the appropriate authorities.
The clearance operation covered over several kilometres, ensuring that weeds, debris, and improperly disposed waste were removed.
The council has also hinted at plans to sustain such activities on a routine basis, in addition to intensified public sensitization campaigns on environmental hygiene.
This latest action forms part of a broader urban management agenda under the Kasali-led administration, aimed at promoting safety, beautification, and a healthier living environment for all in Lekki LCDA.
