The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibeju-Lekki has announced the passing of Ward C1 Councilor, Alhaja Alinat Oluwakemi Rufai, fondly called Iya-Ibeji Akodo.

EpeInsights reports that in a statement, House of Representatives member for Ibeju-Lekki, Prince Bayo Balogun, described her death as the loss of “one of our most treasured pillars,” praising her as a voice for justice, unity, and service.

Elected only weeks ago, Alhaja Rufai’s victory was seen as the culmination of years of dedication, courage and commitment to her community. Rep. Balogun noted that she “carried the APC flag not merely in her hands, but in her heart,” and worked tirelessly for the betterment of the people.

“We mourn her as a mother, sister, confidant, mobilizer, and beacon of hope whose warmth and resilience inspired everyone around her,” he said.

“Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched and the causes she championed.”

Offering prayers for her soul, Balogun asked that Almighty Allah grant her Aljannah Firdaus, and that her memory remains a guiding light for all who believe in service, loyalty, and love for humanity.
