Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) sweeping victory in the just-concluded local government elections as a “resounding affirmation” of the people’s trust in the party’s grassroots vision and leadership.
EpeInsights reports that in a statement issued on Sunday, the Governor congratulated the APC family and hailed the results of the Saturday, July 12 election as a triumph for all Lagosians. The party clinched majority wins across the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.
“This victory belongs to the people of Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu declared. “It reflects your belief in our shared goals and your support for continuity, progress, and people-centered governance.”
Sanwo-Olu praised the dedication of party leaders, candidates, and supporters, while urging the newly elected chairmen and councillors to remain humble and service-oriented.
“Your responsibility is to deliver good governance, uplift communities, and promote the welfare of every resident—regardless of political affiliation,” he said, calling on winners to embrace inclusiveness and unity in service.
He also addressed party members who contested but did not emerge as candidates, commending their democratic spirit and encouraging them to work harmoniously with elected officials. “Within the APC, we must always prioritize unity above personal ambition,” he emphasized.
The Governor lauded the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for organizing a peaceful and credible election and thanked security agencies for maintaining order.
“As the new local government administrations prepare to take office, I reaffirm my commitment to collaborating with them to bring meaningful development to every part of our state,” he said. “Together, we will ensure no community is left behind on our journey toward a Greater Lagos.”
With the local polls concluded, political observers see this landslide as a renewed mandate for the APC’s dominance in Lagos—and a signal of continued public alignment with Sanwo-Olu’s #AGreaterLagosRising agenda.
