As the July 12 local government elections approach, momentum continues to build in Eredo LCDA, Lagos State, where Hon. Ogunkelu Oluwadahunsi Sylvester popularly known as Sketel is leading a robust grassroots campaign in support of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
EpeInsights learnt that Hon. Ogunkelu, who represents Epe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, embarked on a multi-ward mobilization tour across Eredo over the weekend. His mission: to rally support for the APC’s Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, and various councilorship aspirants.
The tour included visits to key communities such as Ward H1 and Igbooye, drawing enthusiastic crowds and strong turnout from party loyalists. The lawmaker called on residents to approach the upcoming election as more than a civic duty—but as a reaffirmation of commitment to the national agenda.
“This election is about more than local governance,” Sketel said during one of the stops. “It’s about showing our unity and support for the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Emphasizing the value of continuity in leadership, Ogunkelu told attendees, “Experience is better than experiment. The APC team has a proven track record of service—we should stay the course.”
Party stakeholders and local leaders joined in reinforcing a message of peace, unity, and voter responsibility throughout the campaign trail. APC councilorship candidates were formally presented in each ward, adding structure to the mobilization efforts.
“The people are ready,” one community elder noted. “What we’re witnessing is not just political organizing—it’s leadership in action.”
Eredo LCDA, one of the three divisions in Epe alongside Epe and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDAs, is considered a crucial area in determining electoral outcomes in Lagos East.
According to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), polling across the state will begin at 8:00 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12.
