In a bold move to combat the rising tide of drug abuse and anti-social behavior among young people, the League of Epe Division Youth and Students Association (LEYOSA), in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), is set to launch a far-reaching campaign across Epe Division in Lagos State.
EpeInsights reports that the initiative, tagged the Anti-Social Vices Campaign, is scheduled to begin in July 2025 and will target 25 junior secondary schools across five key areas; Epe Local Government, Eredo LCDA, Ibeju-Lekki LG, Lekki LCDA, and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
According to the organisers, the campaign aims to sensitize students, establish Drug-Free Clubs, and mentor youths on the dangers of drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime and other social vices threatening their future.
“We believe the fight against drug abuse and moral decay begins in our schools. By equipping students early with the right values and information, we’re planting seeds for a safer and more responsible society,” LEYOSA stated in an official announcement.
LEYOSA and NDLEA are calling on passionate volunteers, youth advocates and philanthropic sponsors to join hands in driving the campaign forward. Their collective support, they say, is vital to reaching as many students as possible and sustaining the momentum of the outreach program.
“This is not just a campaign, it’s a movement. We want young people to know they have options, that they are not alone, and that there is a community ready to support their growth and success,” the statement added.
With Nigeria’s youth increasingly at risk of drug-related challenges, initiatives like this are critical. NDLEA’s involvement adds a layer of credibility, enforcement guidance, and resource support to ensure the program’s success.
Community stakeholders, school authorities, and parents are also expected to play vital roles in supporting the campaign as it unfolds one school at a time.
