In a decisive move to enhance public safety and improve emergency coordination, the Lagos State Government has commenced comprehensive technological and infrastructural upgrades at the Lagos State Command and Control Centre (LSCCC).

EpeInsights learnt that the the General Manager of LSCCC, Mr. Femi Giwa, while speaking during a media briefing at the Centre’s headquarters in Ikeja, stated that the ongoing transformation is aimed at boosting the efficiency and responsiveness of first responders across the state.

“The Centre is currently undergoing major upgrades in both technology and infrastructure to boost our ability to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies,” Giwa said, emphasizing that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to align Lagos State’s emergency response system with global standards.

Since its establishment in 2010, the LSCCC has served as the nerve centre for coordinating key emergency and security agencies, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lagos Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

Mr. Giwa commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for championing innovation in emergency management, noting that the administration has shown unwavering commitment to developing a world-class command centre capable of meeting the demands of a dynamic and growing city like Lagos.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s vision is clear, Lagos must be safe, smart, and ready to respond to emergencies at all times. We are grateful for his support, which has been instrumental in driving these upgrades,” he said.

Appointed in October 2024, Giwa assured residents of Lagos of the Centre’s renewed focus on rapid, effective, and coordinated emergency responses, while reiterating the importance of responsible use of emergency hotlines.LASG Boosts Emergency Response Centre with Major Tech, Infrastructure Overhaul

He warned against prank or nuisance calls, which he described as a serious hindrance to real-time crisis management.

“Anyone caught making false or disruptive calls to the Centre will be prosecuted by the State Government,” he cautioned.

The upgrade of the LSCCC is expected to significantly improve Lagos State’s preparedness and capacity to handle emergencies, further strengthening public trust in the state’s safety and emergency systems.
