Despite recent tensions over leadership within the Muslim community in Epe Division, the League of Imams and Alfas has confirmed that Eid-el-Kabir prayers will proceed as scheduled on Friday, June 6, 2025.

EpeInsights reports that the announcement, signed by President General of the League of Imams and Alfas, Epe Division, Sheikh Sadalah Abiola Aliru, reaffirmed that the Eid prayer will hold at the traditional Eid Ground on Eid Street, Epe, by 9:00 AM prompt.

Additionally, the usual Jumat service will be held at the First Epe Central Mosque, Okebalogun.

This comes just days after the Epe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, issued a controversial notice suspending all Eid congregational prayers within the local government area due to what her office described as “security concerns” stemming from an ongoing chieftaincy and religious leadership dispute.

However, following growing pressure from stakeholders, religious leaders, and residents, the local council reportedly lifted the ban on Thursday evening, paving the way for the traditional observance of Eid prayers.

In his official statement, Sheikh Aliru urged all Muslim faithful and members of the community to attend in the spirit of unity and religious devotion.Details of Eid Prayers Emerge After LG Boss Lifts Earlier Ban

“We urge all Muslim faithful and members of the community to attend punctually and in the spirit of unity and worship,” the announcement read.

Community elders and stakeholders have appealed for calm and restraint ahead of the Eid celebration, emphasizing the need to uphold peace, especially during a time of spiritual reflection.

Security personnel are expected to be deployed around the Eid Ground and the central mosque to ensure a peaceful observance of the prayers.

As the faithful prepare to mark Eid-el-Kabir, many are hopeful that the celebration will be an opportunity for reconciliation and renewed unity in the Epe Muslim community.
