The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, FHTI, has transformed the Papa Epe Health Care Centre into a 24-hour operational facility.
EpeInsights reports that the upgraded centre, now offering round-the-clock services, is poised to complement the Federal Medical Centre, Epe, and bridge a longstanding gap in accessible community-based medical care.
The development includes the recruitment of additional doctors and nurses, who will work alongside personnel deployed by the Lagos State Government.
Hon. Animashaun emphasized the significance of the upgrade as a fulfillment of her administration’s promise to prioritize residents’ health.
“This 24-hour upgrade is not just a policy; it’s a promise fulfilled. A promise of access, reliability, and life-saving care that our people can count on at any time,” she said.
The initiative is expected to significantly reduce emergency fatalities, improve maternal and child health outcomes, and restore public confidence in primary healthcare systems.
Supervisor for Health, Hon. Abolaji Alebiosu, praised the chairman’s leadership, describing the development as a “major leap forward” in the local health agenda.
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Leke Awolesi, also commended the move, calling it a “turning point for public health in Epe.” He noted that with enhanced staffing and a 24-hour operation model, the facility is now better equipped to handle emergencies, critical conditions, and minimize referral delays.
Services at the newly upgraded center include emergency response, outpatient consultations, immunizations, and maternal and child healthcare.
This milestone reinforces Hon. Animashaun’s commitment to responsive and inclusive governance, ushering in what many describe as a new era of healthcare accessibility in Epe.
