In a major step toward enhancing access to justice and promoting local development, the Lagos State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, inaugurated a new courthouse in the Orugbo area of Epe Local Government.

EpeInsights believes that the event, which took place on May 21, 2025, marks an important milestone in ensuring that justice is more accessible to residents in this part of Lagos.

Justice Alogba emphasized that the new court would bring legal services closer to the people, eliminating the need for long journeys to distant courts and offering residents a more efficient and effective way to resolve disputes.

He also noted that the establishment of the court would serve as a catalyst for economic growth in the area, encouraging investor confidence by reinforcing the rule of law.

“Access to justice is fundamental for any thriving society. With this court now operational, litigants will no longer need to travel long distances to seek justice. This development will also encourage business growth, as the rule of law is a key enabler of investment,” said Justice Alogba.

The Chief Judge also called on the Lagos State Government to rehabilitate the Orugbo road, which he described as vital for maximizing the benefits of the new court. Improved road infrastructure, he said, would make it easier for court users to access the facility and enhance the general well-being of the community.

Oba Adewale M. Abdul, the community leader of Orugbo Iddo (Olofin Ajaye), expressed his gratitude to the Chief Judge and the Lagos State Government for fulfilling a key promise made when he ascended the throne six years ago.

“This is a dream come true for our community,” Oba Abdul remarked.

“We are grateful for this landmark achievement, which will ensure peace, order, and progress. It is a testament to the government’s commitment to inclusive development.”

The ceremony was well-attended by residents of Orugbo and surrounding areas, marking what many viewed as a new dawn for local governance, justice, and development.

The new court is set to begin full operations in the coming weeks, further strengthening the justice system in the region.Lagos State Government Opens New Courthouse in Epe
