A truck driver sustained serious injuries after his vehicle fell off the Pen Cinema Bridge in Agege, Lagos, on Saturday.
EpeInsights reports that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident, stating that their officers responded swiftly to rescue the driver, who suffered severe fractures in both hands.
According to LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the accident occurred along Old Abeokuta Road and involved a fully-loaded truck, with registration number GGE 624 Y, and two commercial Volkswagen buses parked beneath the bridge.
Preliminary investigations suggest the driver lost control while navigating the bridge, causing the truck to plunge onto the vehicles below. Fortunately, no other casualties were reported.
LASTMA officers immediately secured the scene, cordoned off the area, and diverted traffic to prevent further accidents.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) later cleared the wreckage to restore traffic flow.
The injured driver was handed over to the Elere Police Division before being transferred to the General Hospital, Ile-Epo, for urgent medical care.
Bakare-Oki urged truck drivers to exercise greater caution, especially during the rainy season, and emphasized the importance of adhering to safety regulations, including the use of speed-limiting devices recently mandated by the state.

He wished the driver a speedy recovery and reminded road users that LASTMA’s toll-free line, 0800 00 527 862, remains available for emergency traffic assistance across Lagos.
