The All Progressives Congress Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation Initiative, APC-GEN, has launched its grassroots mobilisation structure in Epe Division, Lagos State, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Epe Insights reports that the initiative is targeting the mobilisation of 200,000 people across Epe Division as part of its preparations for the forthcoming elections.
The structure was unveiled during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Epe at the weekend, where the group’s convener, Olufowobi Desmond, outlined its grassroots engagement plans.
Desmond said APC-GEN would prioritise direct engagement with residents at the local government, ward and polling-unit levels.
He explained that the initiative would focus on building closer relationships with communities rather than relying solely on large political rallies.
According to him, the group intends to identify challenges affecting residents through direct interaction and develop a coordinated grassroots structure ahead of 2027.
The initiative is also placing emphasis on greater youth participation as part of its mobilisation strategy.
APC-GEN said stronger internal cohesion within the APC would also remain an important component of its activities as preparations for the elections continue.
Stakeholders at the meeting called for unity among party members and collective efforts towards supporting APC candidates across the different levels of government.
The elections mentioned at the gathering include the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly contests.
Among those who attended the meeting were Eredo LGA APC Chairman, Ismail Abiodun; representative of the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Chairman, Issa Olayinka; and Hon. Agbo Stephen.
Also present was a representative of the APC National Chairman, Barrister Adesuyi Daramola, alongside the APC South-West Youth Leader.
Speakers at the gathering highlighted the importance of sustained grassroots engagement in understanding the concerns of residents.
They noted that direct interaction with communities could provide an avenue for identifying local issues and encouraging greater participation in the electoral process.
The launch comes as political parties and support groups begin early preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Grassroots structures, community engagement and voter mobilisation are expected to remain important aspects of political activities as the election period approaches.
For APC-GEN, the Epe Division structure provides a platform for coordinating engagement across communities, wards and polling units.
The group’s 200,000-person mobilisation target represents the scale of its stated grassroots engagement plan across the division.
The initiative also places attention on young people, with youth participation identified as one of the areas the group intends to strengthen.
The stakeholders’ emphasis on unity further reflects the group’s stated objective of building stronger coordination among APC members at the grassroots.
