The Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Akinloye Ismail, has urged district traditional rulers to remain vigilant and work closely with security agencies to protect their communities from emerging security threats.

Epe Insights reports that the chairman made the appeal during an emergency meeting with Baales, where he stressed the need for stronger grassroots collaboration on security, community development, and civic engagement.

Hon. Akinloye advised traditional rulers to pay close attention to activities within their communities. He warned that some unsuspecting residents could be misled through false promises and deceptive incentives into activities capable of threatening public peace.

The chairman reminded the Baales that safeguarding lives and property requires collective responsibility. He urged them to treat security matters with urgency and avoid handling serious issues as private or family affairs.

According to him, Eredo LCDA remains the shared home of every resident, making it essential for community leaders to work together in preserving peace, stability, and social harmony across the council area.

Hon. Akinloye encouraged traditional rulers to strengthen communication with relevant authorities by providing timely and accurate information whenever unusual activities are noticed within their domains.

Beyond security, the chairman called on the Baales to mobilise residents for the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise taking place across the five political wards in Eredo LCDA.

He explained that the rotational registration arrangement was introduced to make the process more convenient for eligible residents. According to him, the initiative provides additional opportunities for people whose work schedules previously prevented them from participating.

The chairman urged community leaders to educate residents on the importance of obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards. He noted that active participation in the electoral process remains an important aspect of democratic governance and community development.

During the interactive session, the secretary of the district traditional rulers appealed to the council chairman to prioritise the maintenance of inner roads after the rainy season. He explained that poor road conditions have limited access to some communities, making security operations more difficult.

The request highlighted the importance of good road infrastructure in supporting effective surveillance and emergency response. Participants noted that improved accessibility would strengthen efforts to protect lives and property.

One of the traditional rulers, Chief Ariyo Christopher Oluwole, the Baale of Erimope, informed the meeting that his community had procured an outboard speedboat engine and a motorcycle to support the operations of the Joint Task Force on land and waterways.

He appealed to the council chairman to assist the community in acquiring a suitable boat that would complement the newly purchased engine and enhance security patrols across riverine areas.

Another traditional ruler, Chief Mayaleke Araromi, the Baale of Odu-Ayan Mojoda, shared his experience in removing unidentified occupants from his community after concerns were raised by residents and landlords.

The discussion underscored the role of traditional institutions in supporting community safety through close engagement with residents and prompt intervention where necessary.

The district traditional rulers also offered prayers for Hon. Akinloye, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength, and guidance in the discharge of his responsibilities as chairman of Eredo LCDA.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Akinloye announced that prolonged electricity challenges affecting parts of the area had been resolved through the collaborative efforts of the chairmen of Epe Local Government, Eredo LCDA, and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.

He also disclosed that security personnel had been deployed to safeguard electricity infrastructure along the Abolanle Ambode Way, covering the Pobo Junction to Atlantic Road corridor. According to him, the measure is aimed at protecting public assets and ensuring residents continue to enjoy stable electricity supply.

The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with traditional rulers, security agencies, and community stakeholders to promote peace, improve infrastructure, and create a safer environment for residents across Eredo Local Council Development Area.
