The Cleaner Ibeju-Lekki Initiative has intensified environmental sanitation activities across key public facilities and major corridors within the local government area.
Epe Insights reports that the ongoing exercise forms part of the administration’s broader commitment under the SHIELD Agenda to promote cleanliness, public health, and sustainable development across Ibeju-Lekki.
The sanitation drive covered major health facilities, including Lakowe Primary Health Centre, Otunla Primary Health Centre, and Elemoro Primary Health Centre.
At the facilities, the team carried out extensive weed-clearing and environmental maintenance to improve hygiene and ensure safer surroundings for healthcare workers and patients.
The initiative also extended to major road corridors, where environmental clearing was undertaken to enhance visibility and general sanitation.
A Bobcat machine belonging to the Local Government was deployed along the Lekki-Epe Expressway to support large-scale clearing and maintenance operations.
Officials noted that the intervention is aimed at improving environmental aesthetics while reducing health and safety risks associated with overgrown vegetation.
According to the initiative’s coordinators, the programme goes beyond beautification to address key environmental and public health concerns.
They explained that cleaner surroundings contribute directly to disease prevention, improved mobility, and better service delivery in public institutions.
