Ikosi-Ejinrin Ramadan Lecture Highlights Trust and Responsibility

Members of the Unified Local Government Muslim Staff Association, Ikosi-Ejinrin Branch, recently organized a Ramadan lecture on Trust (Amanah): A Sacred Responsibility, bringing together council officials, religious leaders, and community members for reflection and spiritual renewal.

Epe Insights reports that the event, held at the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, was attended by Muslim staff, top government functionaries, and community stakeholders including the Executive Chairman, Wale Raji Anomo, Vice Chairman, Council Manager, Secretary to the Local Government, Supervisors, Special Advisers, and departmental staff.

Market men and women, women leaders, and other members of the community were also present, highlighting the inclusive nature of the gathering.

The opening speech was delivered by Mr. Yustas Balogun, a member of the Muslim Staff Association, who emphasized Ramadan as a time for reflection, unity, and renewed commitment to righteousness.

In his welcome address, Chairman Anomo described politics and leadership as responsibilities to be performed with sincerity and fear of God, noting that “Good governance is like an act of worship when carried out with honesty and dedication.”

During the programme, the chairman demonstrated compassion by donating an artificial leg to Mr. Ademolu Okesanya, popularly known as Skede, and subsequently appointed him as Special Adviser to the Chairman (SSA).

The lecture featured insights from the Chief Imam, Abdulraheem Olatunji, who stressed the importance of accountability, integrity, and trust in personal and professional life.

Officials and attendees highlighted the significance of ethical leadership in fostering community development, emphasizing that trust (Amanah) underpins both governance and social cohesion.

The gathering also encouraged participants to embrace moral responsibility, demonstrate honesty in public service, and uphold communal values during and beyond the holy month.

Community members applauded the council’s efforts in combining spiritual teachings with practical support, noting that acts of service, such as Anomo’s donation, inspire goodwill and social cohesion.

The event concluded with prayers for continued guidance, wisdom, and unity among leaders, staff, and residents of the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area.
