Eredo Bans Trading on Walkways

Eredo Eredo

The Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, has announced a total ban on the display and placement of goods on pedestrian walkways across the council area.

Epe Insights reports that the Chairman stated that pedestrian walkways are constructed strictly to guarantee safe and unhindered movement for residents, including school children, the elderly, and other road users.

According to the council, the increasing practice of traders occupying walkways with goods has caused serious obstruction and safety concerns within the LCDA.

He emphasised that such actions defeat the purpose of the infrastructure and expose members of the public to avoidable risks.

“The pedestrian walkway is constructed for a specific purpose, to ensure safe and free movement for residents, school children, the elderly, and all road users,” the statement read.

The council warned that it would no longer tolerate violations of environmental and public safety regulations.

Traders and shop owners have therefore been directed to immediately remove all goods displayed on pedestrian paths and desist from further encroachment.

The statement further disclosed that law enforcement agencies have been mandated to take proactive and decisive action against defaulters.

“Failure to comply with this directive will attract appropriate sanctions,” the Chairman declared.

The council reiterated its commitment to maintaining environmental order, protecting public safety, and promoting a clean and organized community.

Residents were urged to support the directive by complying fully and encouraging others to respect public infrastructure for the collective good.

The development forms part of ongoing efforts by the LCDA administration to improve safety standards and enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the area.
