Igbooye Kingdom recorded a significant cultural milestone as the Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa, installed new traditional chiefs and unveiled a historic book documenting the kingdom’s heritage and leadership structure.
Epe Insights reports that the colorful ceremony, held in Igbooye, attracted royal fathers, community leaders, indigenes, and guests from within and outside Eredo Local Council Development Area.
The event combined tradition, history, and reflection, reinforcing the importance of cultural continuity and responsible leadership.
The highlight of the occasion was the formal presentation of the book titled The Memoirs of Igbooye’s Traditional Chiefs and Brief History of the Kingdom.
The publication chronicles the evolution of traditional governance in Igbooye Kingdom and documents the contributions of past and present chiefs to the growth of the community.
Royal fathers at the event emphasized that traditional institutions remain vital to peacebuilding, cultural preservation, and grassroots development.
They urged the newly installed chiefs to uphold loyalty to the throne, promote tolerance among residents, and foster unity across clans and age groups within the kingdom.
Speaking during the installation, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa described the ceremony as a reaffirmation of Igbooye’s values and identity.
He noted that the selection of the new chiefs was based on character, service, and commitment to community development, stressing that traditional titles are responsibilities rather than privileges.
Those installed include Chief (Engr.) Abdulbariu Olugbenga Quadri as the Olisa of Igbooye Kingdom, Chief (Engr.) Morufu Oludare Salami (Egbo) as the Eketa Ilu of Igbooye Kingdom, and Chief Rasaq Oladipupo Sanni as the Otun of Igbooye Kingdom. The monarch charged them to serve with integrity and wisdom.
