The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has announced new security measures aimed at strengthening safety and restoring public confidence across the council.
Epe Insight reports that the directives follow an emergency security briefing and are to be enforced within 24 hours. Olowa restated that safeguarding lives and property remains a top priority of his administration.

Under the new rules, commercial motorcyclists will only be allowed to operate between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily. Riders are also required to complete computerised registration and adopt new uniforms and identification stickers to enhance monitoring.
The Chairman directed the immediate removal of shanties and illegal structures identified as security risks. He stressed that such structures often harbour criminal activities and must be cleared without delay.
Security agencies have also been ordered to intensify operations against cultism, which has posed recurring threats in parts of Ibeju-Lekki. Organisers of street carnivals must now obtain police permits to prevent security breaches.
Olowa further announced a ban on illegal toll collection at Eleko Junction. He warned that anyone found extorting commuters will face strict enforcement actions.
Environmental enforcement has also been strengthened, with the Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps directed to resume operations against indiscriminate refuse dumping on roads and beaches.
A joint task force comprising security agencies and council enforcement units has been deployed to ensure compliance. Special teams have been stationed at strategic points across the council area.
The Chairman urged residents, businesses and community leaders to support the new measures by reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with enforcement teams.
