Over 11,000 Residents Captured in Ibeju-Lekki Social Register Under Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer

A total of 11,296 residents have been successfully enumerated under the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, according to the latest report from the local government’s social register exercise.

EpeInsights reports that the analysis, conducted under the administration of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, provides a comprehensive insight into the level of community vulnerability across Ibeju-Lekki, highlighting key social and economic challenges affecting households in the area.

According to the report, 8,365 residents (74%) were registered manually, while 2,931 residents (26%) were captured through online registration, underscoring the council’s commitment to both field outreach and digital inclusion.

Women constitute the majority of beneficiaries, accounting for 64% (7,183) of those registered, while men represent 36% (4,113).

The data reflects a clear gender gap, showing that women remain the most affected by economic hardship and social vulnerability in the local government area.

Ward-level participation in the exercise also demonstrated strong community engagement and inclusiveness.
Breakdown by wards shows:

  • Ward A: 2,099 (19%)
  • Ward B: 1,988 (18%)
  • Ward C1: 1,455 (13%)
  • Ward C2: 1,129 (10%)
  • Ward D: 1,210 (11%)
  • Ward E: 1,861 (16%)
  • Ward F: 1,554 (14%)

The social vulnerability profile revealed that unemployed persons (28%) make up the largest category of beneficiaries, followed by widows (27%), elderly residents (20%), persons with medical conditions (14%) and persons with disabilities (11%).

Officials said the data will serve as a foundation for evidence-based and transparent implementation of the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer programme, ensuring that interventions reach the most vulnerable and improve the overall welfare of Ibeju-Lekki residents.

Speaking on the report, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to data-driven governance and inclusive social support systems.

“This exercise is not just about numbers it’s about identifying real people and real needs. The social register gives us the data we need to make informed decisions, target the right beneficiaries, and deliver impactful programmes that lift families out of poverty,” he stated.

He added that the findings would strengthen ongoing efforts under the SHIELD Agenda, which emphasizes Sustainable Development, Human Capital Investment, Infrastructure, Empowerment, Leadership, and Data-driven planning.

Hon. Olowa assured residents that the council will continue to collaborate with state and federal agencies to ensure the Renewed Hope initiative translates into tangible benefits for households across all wards.

With this exercise, Ibeju-Lekki sets a new benchmark for transparent social welfare planning, aligning with the national goal of empowering vulnerable populations and fostering inclusive growth at the grassroots.
