Federal lawmaker, Hon. Wale Raji is deepening his imprint on education in Lagos State with the construction of three new secondary schools and a raft of ongoing infrastructural projects across Epe Federal Constituency.

EpeInsights reports that during a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Raji revealed that the new schools in Ilege (Lekki LCDA), Oko-Abe (Epe LGA), and Owu-Ikosi (Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA) have been completed and are scheduled to commence academic activities in September.

The move, according to Raji, was prompted by calls from local communities who lacked access to nearby schools.

He said the intervention will reduce educational inequality and improve student retention. But the lawmaker’s commitment goes far beyond these three Infrastructure.

He disclosed that major education infrastructure upgrades are underway, including; new 12-classroom storey building at Temu for senior secondary students, a similar structure at Pobuna Secondary School in Eredo to ease overcrowding and a six-classroom block at Lofi Ogunmude in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.

At Epe Grammar School, the transformation is even more comprehensive, with the construction of a mini stadium, hostels for boys and girls, principal and teachers’ lodges, a modern dining facility, road networks and an ICT centre. An old classroom block is also being converted into a hostel, while heritage buildings are being restored.

“These projects reflect our shared goal with the State Government to build schools that not only exist but function as centers of excellence,” Raji stated.

Notably, his previous interventions include; construction of classroom blocks in Agbowa, Ejinrin, and Eredo communities, distribution of school furniture and writing materials to over 20 public schools, scholarships and educational support to over 500 students at different levels as well as organisation of annual summer schools and leadership bootcamps for secondary students.

He also highlighted an ambitious facelift at Epe Grammar School, where ongoing upgrades include: the construction of a mini stadium, 100-bed hostels for boys and girls, principal and teachers’ lodges, an ICT centre, tarred road networks, a new dining hall and kitchen, and the restoration of heritage structures.

Commissioner Alli-Balogun commended the initiative, saying the state is aligned with Raji’s vision and is working to ensure the necessary staffing, security, and logistics are in place. He also stressed that the Ministry was in discussions with TESCOM and Education District III to ensure that the schools are ready for the academic session.

The Commissioner also described the lawmaker’s approach as “a model for impactful constituency engagement,” noting the potential for replication in other districts.

With more projects still underway, Hon. Wale Raji’s educational interventions signal a growing partnership between federal legislators and state institutions aimed at transforming public education from the grassroots.
