As part of ongoing efforts to improve transportation, ease traffic congestion and stimulate economic growth across Lagos State, the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, formally commission two major rehabilitated roads.

EpeInights reports that the roads are; Abaranje in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area and Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road (formerly Old Dopemu Road) in Agege Local Government Area.

These projects bring the tally of completed infrastructure under the Sanwo-Olu administration this year to an impressive 36 roads and five bridges.

The state government continues to demonstrate its resolve to touch every corner of the state with impactful development, even in the face of challenging economic realities.

Old Dopemu Road, now renamed Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road, is a critical bypass that connects multiple parts of the city. Traversing Agege and Alimosho Local Government Areas, the road links Akowonjo Road, Old Ipaja Road and the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

Its reconstruction is expected to significantly ease traffic flow and shorten commute times for thousands of motorists and commuters in the densely populated corridor.

Similarly, the upgraded Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun LCDA is a key access route serving several communities in Igando, one of the largest settlements in Alimosho LGA. Prior to its reconstruction, residents and road users faced daily traffic delays and flooding.

The new road has not only addressed these challenges but also opened up the area to increased economic activity.

The Lagos State Government emphasized that the improved road connectivity, reduction in flooding, and smoother flow of traffic are already enhancing the quality of life for residents.

The ripple effects include better access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities, as well as increased commercial engagement in the surrounding communities.

According to Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration remains committed to completing both new and ongoing road projects across the state.

The goal is to build sustainable communities, improve interconnectivity between districts, and deliver lasting infrastructure that meets the growing demands of a megacity like Lagos.Sanwo-Olu to Commission Reconstructed Abaranje, Old Dopemu Roads as Lagos Pushes Ahead with Infrastructure Drive
