A new dawn has arrived in Ibeju-Lekki, as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, Inaugurated several landmark projects that signal a renewed commitment to grassroots development in Lagos State.

EpeInsights reports that among the newly inaugurated projects were a purpose-built multi-storey administrative building named after President Bola Tinubu, a modern legislative council chamber and a standard interlocking road.

The Projects were all delivered by the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government under the leadership of Chairman Hon. Abdullahi Olowa.

These projects are part of a larger effort to rebuild and reposition the council after its former secretariat was tragically destroyed during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests.

The newly unveiled secretariat stands not only as a physical structure but as a symbol of resilience and visionary leadership.Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates Landmark Projects in Ibeju-Lekki

With high-speed internet, solar-powered lighting, CCTV surveillance, and a dedicated ICT centre, the facility is being hailed as one of the most technologically advanced council offices in Nigeria.

“This secretariat provides a spacious, modern workspace that fosters efficiency and innovation,” Hon. Olowa said.

“It’s a huge step forward from the inadequate and outdated structures we had in the past.”

In addition to the administrative projects, Governor Sanwo-Olu also performed the groundbreaking ceremony for Citrus Gardens—a public-private partnership housing initiative that aims to redefine urban living in Ibeju-Lekki.

The estate is set to feature well-designed residential units, paved roads, indoor recreational spaces, green areas, and round-the-clock security.

“The Citrus Gardens will not only provide quality housing but also stimulate economic activity and set a new benchmark for urban development in this axis,” Olowa added.

Meanwhile, the newly commissioned road—named in honour of Governor Sanwo-Olu—will improve access to previously underdeveloped areas, laying the groundwork for more inclusive growth.

While addressing residents and stakeholders, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that these projects are aligned with the broader THEMES Plus development agenda of his administration.

“This moment reflects the progress inspired by purposeful and transformational leadership,” the Governor said. “The new infrastructure will enhance operational efficiency, boost staff productivity, and deepen democratic governance at the local level.”

He also shared plans for more infrastructure in the region, including the construction of the Eleranigbe Road and the ongoing bridge project from Sangotedo to the future Lekki Airport corridor via Omu Creek.

The ceremony was more than just an event, it was a testament to the resilience of Ibeju-Lekki and the possibilities that emerge when government, private partners, and communities work together for shared progress.

With its upgraded facilities, strategic housing plans, and expanded road network, Ibeju-Lekki is clearly positioning itself as a beacon of sustainable development in Lagos State.
