In a strong show of leadership and civic duty, Rep. Wale Raji, Member of the House of Representatives representing Epe Federal Constituency, joined constituents in casting his vote during Saturday’s peaceful local government elections.
EpeInsights reports that the scene at LG Primary School, Ise, his polling unit in Lekki LCDA was calm and upbeat. With APC candidates running unopposed across all five wards in the LCDA, the process felt more like a celebration than a contest.
“This is essentially a ratification process, but civic duty must be upheld regardless,” Rep. Raji remarked after casting his vote.
He emphasized the importance of showing up at the polls, even in uncontested elections, to reaffirm the people’s mandate and uphold democratic values.
All APC chairmanship and councillorship candidates in Lekki LCDA ran unchallenged, a development Rep. Raji credited to strong internal cohesion and public trust in the party’s leadership.
“Across the five wards in Lekki, APC candidates are returning unchallenged. That reflects the overwhelming confidence our people have in the party’s leadership,” he noted.
Despite the absence of opposition, electoral officers arrived early and the voting process ran smoothly—an effort Rep. Raji applauded LASIEC for managing efficiently. While voter turnout was moderate, Rep. Raji acknowledged it could have been stronger, pointing to voter apathy in uncontested races. He called on constituents to remain politically active and not take democratic processes for granted.

“We continue to urge our people not to be relaxed. Active civic participation is essential now and as we approach 2027.”
Local leaders and stakeholders echoed Rep. Raji’s sentiments. Hon. Bakre Idris Olawale, outgoing two-term councillor for Ward E, praised the APC-led government’s strides in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
“Our progress is thanks to the collaborative leadership of President Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and our Council Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele,” he said.
Alhaji Tunde Kareem, a political elder in the area, highlighted the peaceful consensus-building within the party during the primaries.
“In our ward, nine aspirants expressed interest, but all stepped down willingly after internal consultations. That’s the kind of politics we should be practicing,” he said.
Rep. Wale Raji’s presence at the polls wasn’t just symbolic, it was a clear message about participatory governance.
His leadership continues to reflect a commitment to democratic ideals and grassroots development, even in low-stakes electoral moments.
With the 2027 elections on the horizon, the momentum from this civic engagement could set the tone for deeper political participation and stronger governance across Epe Federal Constituency.
