In recognition of its outstanding commitment to cleanliness and environmental stewardship, Otedola Estate in Eredo LCDA has been named the Cleanest Community in the Epe Division.

EpeInsights reports that the honour was bestowed by the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources as part of the 2025 World Environment Day celebration.

The recognition ceremony, which took place at the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat, brought together environmental leaders, government officials and community representatives from across the Epe Division to celebrate grassroots contributions to sustainability.

The award was presented by the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, and received on behalf of the Eredo LCDA Chairman, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, by Johnson Hammed Temitope, the APC Councillorship candidate for Ward K1.

Speaking after the award presentation, Johnson Hammed praised the residents of Otedola Estate for their dedication to environmental cleanliness and applauded Hon. Akinloye’s leadership in prioritizing sanitation initiatives.

“This recognition is a testament to the collective discipline and commitment of Otedola Estate residents,” he said.

“It underscores the vision of Hon. Monsuru Akinloye in promoting a cleaner, healthier environment for all.”

He further described the award as a motivation to maintain high standards, adding that sustainable cleanliness is a shared responsibility that requires consistent effort.

In his remarks, Engr. Olowa applauded the estate’s achievement, urging other communities in the division to emulate the example set by Otedola Estate.

“Sustainable environmental practices must begin at the community level,” he said.

“Otedola Estate has shown what is possible when citizens and leaders work hand-in-hand.”
