The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has kicked off a new phase in the council’s environmental sustainability drive with the commencement of waste compactor collection services along the Eleko Junction–Abijo corridor.

EpeInsights reports that the initiative, which began on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, complements the existing Garbage Collection Tricycle (popularly known as Keke Jaja), ensuring that residents have multiple channels to safely and efficiently dispose of their refuse.

In a statement from the Chairman’s media office, residents were urged to move their waste to designated collection points for prompt evacuation.

“Cleanliness is next to godliness and this administration is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a clean and safe environment,” said Akadiri Ayorinde, Special Assistant on Media.

The waste compactor rollout is part of Hon. Olowa’s broader environmental sustainability plan aimed at reducing indiscriminate dumping, safeguarding public health, and promoting a cleaner, greener Ibeju-Lekki.
