The Lagos State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management following a multi-day budget defence involving key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
Epe Insights reports that the exercise formed part of the Assembly’s statutory oversight duties ahead of the 2026 fiscal year.

Speaking on the process, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency II, said lawmakers subjected all budget proposals to rigorous scrutiny to prevent waste, duplication, and misallocation of public funds.
He explained that MDAs were required to provide clear, evidence-based justifications for their requests to ensure value for money and measurable developmental impact.

According to Hon. Tobun, the review ensured that proposed expenditures align strictly with Lagos State’s development priorities, growth agenda, and citizens’ welfare objectives.
He added that the legislature’s approach is aimed at delivering a people-centred and sustainable 2026 budget capable of supporting long-term economic growth.

The lawmaker reaffirmed that the Assembly remains committed to ensuring public resources are deployed responsibly for the overall benefit of Lagos residents
