The Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA) has celebrated its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of championing agricultural transformation and grassroots empowerment across Lagos State.

EpeInsights gathered that the milestone event, held at the Agric Cooperative Hall in Oko-Oba, spotlighted LSADA’s pivotal role in driving food security, sustainable farming, and economic empowerment for farmers, women, and youth since its inception.

Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Fatai Audu, described LSADA as “a model for sustainable, tech-driven and youth-inclusive agriculture.”

She noted that the agency’s enduring commitment to farmer training, innovation, and sustainable practices has solidified its position as a cornerstone of Lagos’ agricultural agenda.

“Our commitment to farmer empowerment, innovation, and sustainable practices has never been stronger,” the Commissioner stated.

“The future of agriculture in Lagos is green, digital, and inclusive.”

LSADA Programme Manager, Engr. Aliru Adewale Alade, paid tribute to the agency’s founding visionaries, saying their dedication continues to inspire current efforts toward improved agricultural productivity and efficiency. He emphasized the need to sustain the momentum through collaboration and innovation.

Also speaking at the event, Dr. Yakub Olajide Bashorun, a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, underscored the urgency of integrating digital technologies and strategic planning to revolutionize agriculture in an urban environment like Lagos. “For Lagos to lead in urban agriculture, we must prioritise data, mechanisation, and youth-led innovation,” he advised.

The anniversary also featured testimonials from beneficiaries of LSADA’s programmes. Mrs. Titi Olopade, speaking on behalf of the Ogbonge Women Lagos Chapter, praised the agency for empowering women through cooperative initiatives and skills development. “For us, LSADA is more than an agency—it is a bridge to economic freedom,” she said.

The week-long celebration included a series of activities such as a thanksgiving service, fitness walk, exhibition stands, a Jumat service, and an awards ceremony to honour staff, partners, and stakeholders who have contributed to the agency’s mission over the years.

As LSADA reflects on its 30-year journey, stakeholders say the agency is poised to scale new heights, driving agricultural innovation, job creation, and sustainable development in Lagos for years to come.LSADA Marks 30 Years of Agricultural Impact in Lagos LSADA Marks 30 Years of Agricultural Impact in Lagos
