As part of efforts to show commitment to the grassroot, the management team of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), has rolled out a community empowerment initiative on Tuesday, July 9, 2025.
EpeInsights reports that the event, tagged “RBK: Unity in Action,” was held at Ajayi Hall within the Council Secretariat and was spearheaded by the Council Manager, Otunba Olayiwola Giwa.
The program focused on uplifting women, fishermen, and micro-entrepreneurs across the LCDA through the distribution of vital business tools and equipment.
Beneficiaries received items such as sewing machines, popcorn machines, makeup kits, grinding machines, hairdressing kits, and fishing tools. These resources are aimed at helping residents either start or expand their small businesses in sectors like tailoring, food vending, beauty services, and fishing—key contributors to the local economy.
Representing the Executive Chairman at the event, Mrs. Ramat Bola Kasali commended the unity and dedication within the council, emphasizing that the empowerment drive reflects a shared vision among all arms of governance in Lekki LCDA.
“This journey has not been a solo effort,” she said. “It is a testament to the love, loyalty, and cohesion among our team. Through this initiative and others before it, we hope to ignite local enterprise, foster self-reliance, and uplift livelihoods within our communities.”
The empowerment program forms part of the broader RBK Continuity Campaign, which advocates for consistency in leadership and policies to ensure deeper development and long-term impact.
As the RBK administration continues to prioritize inclusive growth and human capital development, residents and stakeholders are optimistic that such programs will further strengthen Lekki LCDA’s position as a hub of progress and community-driven leadership.
