Residents of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) are benefiting from an ongoing National Identification Number (NIN) registration exercise in Otolu and Lekki communities, aimed at improving access to national identification.

Epe Insights reports that the exercise, coordinated by the Lekki LCDA, is part of efforts to deepen civic inclusion and ensure eligible residents are properly captured in the national identity database.

The registration is open to all residents aged 18 years and above, with community members already trooping to designated centres to take advantage of the opportunity.

According to the Media Office of the Executive Chairman, residents are encouraged to present their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) where available to ease the process.

The council, however, clarified that possession of a PVC is not mandatory, as residents without it but who meet the age requirement are also eligible to register.

Officials noted that the initiative is designed to remove barriers that often limit residents’ access to the National Identity Management System.

The NIN registration is expected to enhance residents’ ability to access government services, financial platforms, telecommunications services, and other private sector offerings that require national identification.

The exercise will also strengthen government data, supporting effective planning, service delivery, and inclusive development within Lekki LCDA.

Residents have been urged to promptly participate in the exercise while it is ongoing, to avoid delays or challenges associated with late registration.

The council reiterated that the process is free and accessible, encouraging community members to take full advantage of the initiative.

Lekki LCDA reaffirmed its commitment to bringing essential government services closer to the people and ensuring that no eligible resident is excluded from the national identification process.

The council added that initiatives like this reflect its dedication to inclusive governance and responsive grassroots administration.
