In a determined push to expand educational access for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Lagos State, the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) is strengthening its collaboration with the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education (LAGAME).
EpeInsights learnt that the initiative is aimed at breaking down learning barriers, building self-esteem, and empowering PWDs to thrive as productive members of society.
During a recent visit to LAGAME, LASODA’s General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, underscored the urgent need for inclusive education frameworks that are accessible and responsive to the unique needs of learners with disabilities.
She stressed that providing tailored learning opportunities is key to boosting employability, independence, and overall well-being among PWDs.
“Inclusivity starts with accessibility,” Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal said.
“Educational systems must adapt to serve all learners. No one should be left behind.”
She emphasized LASODA’s commitment to championing an equitable learning environment where every student—regardless of ability—has access to quality education and meaningful opportunities.
Responding to the initiative, the Director of LAGAME, Mrs. Kalesanwo, expressed the agency’s readiness to partner with LASODA.
She outlined several inclusive measures already in place, including designated admission slots for learners with disabilities, the development of disability-friendly curricula, and the deployment of assistive learning technologies.
According to her, LAGAME is eager to nurture partnerships that support not only the academic growth of PWDs but also their social and emotional development.
“We are committed to fostering a learning environment that embraces diversity and promotes inclusion,” she noted.
This growing collaboration between LASODA and LAGAME signals a united vision for inclusive education in Lagos State.
It reflects a shared resolve to ensure that all learners, regardless of physical or cognitive ability, can access quality education and contribute meaningfully to society.
