The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce has arrested 84 individuals during a clean-up and enforcement operation in the Agege area.
EpeInsights reports that this is part of the state government’s renewed efforts to restore order and maintain public hygiene across the metropolis.
This was disclosed by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat, via his official social media handle on Friday, June 20, 2025.
According to Gawat, the operation targeted several notorious flashpoints in Agege, including the Railway corridor at Ojurin, Isale Oja, Oke Koto, AP junction and surrounding streets where Taskforce operatives encountered suspected miscreants and environmental offenders.
A statement issued after the operation confirmed that 84 individuals comprising 82 males and 2 females were apprehended during the raid.
“All the suspects will be charged to court accordingly,” the statement read.
The Agege clean-up exercise is part of the ongoing #ZeroToleranceLagos campaign, a state-wide initiative aimed at curbing environmental infractions, illegal trading, and other activities that compromise public safety and urban order.
Authorities say the campaign underscores the state government’s commitment to sanitising public spaces, dismantling criminal hideouts, and reinforcing the rule of law in densely populated areas.
Residents and business owners in the affected areas have been urged to cooperate with officials and maintain compliance with environmental and public safety regulations.
