In a move aimed at strengthening grassroots security and community engagement, the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) has officially inaugurated the Heads and Pioneer Officers of its newly created units.
EpeInsights learnt that the swearing-in ceremony, held at the Agency’s Headquarters in Oshodi, was presided over by the General Manager of the LNSA, Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, FISN.
Addressing the officers, Oyekan praised their commitment to service and reminded them of their crucial role in securing the lives and property of Lagos residents.
“You are not just officers of the Neighbourhood Safety Agency; you are guardians of our communities,” he said. “Your presence and actions will shape the safety and trust of the neighbourhoods you are assigned to protect.”
The General Manager emphasized a community-first approach to policing, underscoring the importance of proactive patrols, human rights protection, and empathy in their interactions with the public. Officers were urged to foster strong relationships with residents and work collaboratively to address security challenges.
The new units, designed to enhance the agency’s operational reach and effectiveness, include the Marine, Forest Rangers, Technical and Mechanical, Paramedics, Tailoring, Crime Scene Management and Forensics, Domestic Violence, Research and Innovation, and Anti-Human Trafficking units.
A total of 38 officers took the oath of service, pledging allegiance to the agency’s values of integrity, vigilance, and community commitment.
The event was attended by top agency officials and fellow corps members who came out in full support of the new team.
Among the newly sworn-in officers was Officer Adeyemi Titilayo, Head of the Tailoring Unit, who expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity.
“I am proud to be part of this Agency and the new unit. I look forward to working closely with my colleagues and our communities to make our neighbourhoods safer for everyone,” she said.
The inauguration is seen as a major step forward in the Agency’s ongoing mission to maintain peace and security across Lagos.
The LNSA reaffirmed its commitment to continued officer training, community-led initiatives, and strategic partnerships to strengthen public safety across the state.
The newly inaugurated officers are expected to begin active duty next week in their designated communities.
