As part of its strategic preparations for the upcoming Local Government Elections slated for July 12, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a 40-member campaign council to lead its charge across the state.
EpeInsights reports that the inauguration, which took place on Tuesday, June 4, was announced in a statement by the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo.
The council is chaired by the immediate past State Chairman of the APC and former Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Balogun, while the Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA will serve as the council’s Secretary.
To ensure effective coordination and outreach, the council is divided into six directorates, each headed by seasoned party leaders:
- Mobilization – Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole
- Finance – Hon. Olufemi Daramola
- Security – Dr. Razak Balogun
- Media and Publicity – Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo
- Electoral – Barr. Ademola Sadiq
- Special Duties – Dr. Lateef Ibirogba
In addition, regional coordination has been streamlined to reflect Lagos’ senatorial zones:
- Lagos West: Co-coordinated by Hon. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and Barr. Abimbola Saliu-Hundeyin, with Chief Sunday Aboyade and Hon. Fatai Ayoola as Deputy Co-ordinators
- Lagos Central: Co-ordinated by Hon. Abayomi Daramola
- Lagos East: Co-ordinated by Chief (Mrs.) Bolanle Olusanya
While addressing the council members, the Lagos APC State Chairman congratulated them on their appointments and charged them to hit the ground running, noting the limited time remaining before the polls.
“The task before you is to take the campaign to every nook and cranny of the state,” he said.
“You must showcase the tremendous achievements of our local governments and mobilize voters to ensure a sweeping victory for our party.”
In response, Campaign Council Chairman Hon. Babatunde Balogun expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver. He assured party members that the council’s work would not only secure victory in the local elections but also lay the groundwork for success in the 2027 general elections.
“We are united in our mission, and we understand the weight of responsibility that comes with it. We will work tirelessly to deliver for our party,” he said.
The council’s membership reflects a broad coalition of party stakeholders, including women and youth representatives, artisans, non-indigenous groups, members of both state and national assemblies, cabinet members, and the APC State Executive Committee.
This inclusive strategy is designed to foster grassroots participation and strengthen voter engagement ahead of the critical polls.
