The Labour Party (LP) has officially announced its candidates for the upcoming Lagos State local government, LG elections scheduled for July 12, 2025.

EpeInsights quotes the Lagos State LP Chairperson, Pastor Dayo Ekong, as saying that 26 candidates emerged from the party’s primaries conducted across 26 local council areas on Friday.

The primaries were held in line with party guidelines, marking a significant step in LP’s participation in local governance.

Ekong stated that while the party conducted primaries in 26 of Lagos State’s 57 local government areas and local council development areas (LCDAs), it will not be fielding chairmanship candidates in the remaining 30 councils. She described this as a strategic decision, citing internal considerations and resource allocation.

“We are focusing on areas where we have strong grassroots support and organizational readiness,” Ekong said.

She added that the primary for Oshodi/Isolo will be rescheduled, bringing the total number of candidates to 27.Labour Party Unveils Candidates for July 12 Lagos LG Elections
