Kayokayo Festival 2025: Epe Kingdom Unites in Colorful Royal Homage

The ancient town of Epe came alive with pomp, tradition, and spiritual reflection as this year’s Kayokayo Festival began with a royal homage and cultural visitation across the kingdom, showcasing the town’s deep-rooted heritage and communal unity.

EpeInsights reports that the day’s festivities commenced at the historic Kosoko Statue in Popo Oba, where the Olu-Epe-elect, Oba Kadri Musiliudeen Odedeogboro, led the Olu-Epe in Council and the community in solemn prayers.

The intercession was held in honor of all past monarchs and notable sons and daughters of Epe who have passed on.

“This prayer is for the souls of our fathers who laid the foundation of the peace and culture we enjoy today,” the Olu-Epe-elect remarked.

“Their memory guides our steps as we continue the journey of Epe’s greatness.”

Following the prayers, a symbolic royal visitation began, as the major quarters in Epe—including Bado Isale, Bado Oke, Oke Posun/Lagbade, Isale Agoro, Oke-Oba/Popo Oba, and Oke-Balogun—arrived at the palace of the Olu-Epe-elect bearing gifts and prayers.

Each delegation presented tokens of loyalty and goodwill, expressing collective hopes for a peaceful reign and a more prosperous future for the town under the leadership of Oba Kadri Odedeogboro.

A representative from one of the quarters said, “this royal visitation is a reflection of our tradition of respect and unity. It strengthens the bond between the palace and the people.”

Delivering a powerful address, Professor Nosiru Onibon emphasized the importance of unity and togetherness in Epe’s continued development.

“We must remember that we are one big family in Epe. Politics, titles, or status should never divide us. The beauty of Kayokayo lies in this show of love, loyalty, and brotherhood.”

Professor Onibon noted that the royal visitation is not merely a tradition but a reaffirmation of Epe’s collective strength and commitment to cultural preservation.

Also lending her voice, Alhaja Alade Raji praised the humility of the incoming monarch and commended the seamless cooperation displayed by all quarters.

“This is the Epe we want to see—peaceful, progressive, and united. May the spirit of Kayokayo continue to bring us together in love and development.”

As one of the most cherished cultural highlights of the Kayokayo Festival, the royal homage underscores the town’s enduring reverence for tradition, monarchy, and unity. The vibrant event not only celebrates Epe’s cultural pride but also serves as a call for renewed communal harmony.
