EpeInsights reports that His Royal Majesty, Oba Musiliudeen Adeniyi Kadri (Odedeogboro), Olu-Epe (Elect) of Epe Kingdom, while announcing the commencement of the week-long celebration,  described the Kayo-Kayo Festival as more than a cultural gathering, a profound walk back in time to honour the forebears of the Epe Kingdom.

“The Kayo-Kayo Festival is an opportunity for us to take a walk back in time and witness how the sons and daughters of Epe Kingdom celebrated their fore-bearers, appreciating culture, heritage, tradition and ancient knowledge,” Oba Kadri said in his royal message.

He emphasized the symbolic essence of the festival, which features annual prayers for peace and prosperity, not only for the people of Epe Kingdom, but also for Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.

The 2025 edition of the festival promises vibrant displays of drumming, dancing, singing and talent showcases by indigenes and residents both at home and in the diaspora as the town unites in celebration of its cultural roots and hopeful future.

“Odun a y’abo o!” declared the monarch, invoking blessings for a peaceful and successful celebration.
