Education took centre stage in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA as the administration of Executive Chairman, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, distributed free General Certificate of Education, GCE forms to 200 school leavers within the council.

EpeInsights gathered that the exercise, held at the LCDA Secretariat Multipurpose Hall, marked the 5th edition of the programme since the inception of Anomo’s administration.

To date, more than 1,000 beneficiaries have received free GCE forms, enabling them to further their studies and expand future career opportunities.

The well-attended event drew top council officials, including Vice-Chairman Alh. Wasiu Dehinsilu, Council Treasurer Mr. Adeshina Lawal, Chief of Staff Hon. Jayesimi Ibraheem, former Executive Secretary Hon. Sulaiman Yusuf, HOD Education & Library Services Mr. Balogun, and Public Affairs Officer Mr. Olufemi Jacob.

Speaking at the programme, the Head of Education and Library Services emphasized that education remains a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, commending the Chairman for consistently prioritizing youth empowerment.

In his keynote address, Otunba Anomo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, describing the gesture as an investment in the future of the council.


“Our administration believes strongly that no child should be denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to financial constraints. This is why we are giving out these forms free of charge. We are determined to continue supporting our young ones until they reach their full potential,” he stated.

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing the initiative as a beacon of hope that will strengthen their academic journeys.

The event concluded with goodwill messages from dignitaries, who encouraged the students to remain focused, excel in their examinations, and bring pride to Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
