In a landmark moment for grassroots democracy, the 10th Legislative Council of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government was officially inaugurated today in a ceremony marked by tradition, unity and a shared vision for progress.
EpeInsights reports that the event, held at the Ibeju-Lekki Legislative Chamber, drew a distinguished gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, community representatives, and stakeholders from across the Local Government Area.
The Legal Officer of Ibeju-Lekki LG, Barr. Lawson Damilola, administered the oath of office to the new council members, formally ushering in a new chapter in local governance.
The Clerk of the House, Mrs. Balogun-Akinfala Oluwakemi Aramide, presided over the nomination of principal officers through a transparent and unanimous process.
Hon. Olayinka Mojeed Oluwafemi was officially appointed as the Leader of the 10th Legislative Council, delivering a speech that expressed gratitude to his colleagues and leaders for the confidence reposed in him. He also announced Hon. Zainab Eletu as the new Majority Leader, and Hon. Sebiu Alaba Lawal as the Chief Whip.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Chairman of all Council Chairmen in Lagos State, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, congratulated the new council members and reiterated his administration’s commitment to development under his second-term SHIELD Agenda.
“We must rise beyond political lines and personal interests to embrace a common purpose—the growth of Ibeju-Lekki. Together, we can achieve far more than we did in the last term,” Hon. Olowa stated, urging unity and collaboration among all stakeholders.
