Lagos State Health District III has held a stakeholders’ sensitisation meeting at the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat to raise awareness on the importance of the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine for children.

Epe Insights reports that the meeting was led by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, as part of preparations for the MR vaccination campaign scheduled for January 20 to 31, 2026.

Addressing participants, Dr. Adeleke warned that measles and rubella are highly contagious diseases capable of causing severe complications in children and unborn babies if not prevented.

She stressed that the MR vaccine is safe, effective, and will be administered free of charge at all government health facilities across the state.

According to her, parents and guardians must take advantage of the campaign to ensure children within the eligible age group are fully protected.

“Measles and rubella are dangerous but preventable diseases. Parents must ensure their children receive the vaccine,” she said.

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Issa Maruf Olayinka, reaffirmed the council’s full support for the vaccination exercise.
