The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has launched the 2026 Budget Retreat with a focus on infrastructure, community welfare, and strategic planning for the rapidly developing council area.
Eko Hot News reports that the four-day retreat, held at Daval Spring Hotel, Owode–Ibeshe, Ikorodu, runs from December 2–5, bringing together council officials, legislators, finance experts, and departmental heads to harmonise priorities under the theme, “Building the New Lagos: Strengthening Infrastructure and Community Welfare in Ibeju-Lekki Through Strategic Planning and Inclusive Budgeting.”

Hon. Olowa highlighted that the retreat follows extensive ward-level consultations where residents outlined their needs for the coming fiscal year. “We are reconciling these inputs to ensure our budget aligns with the SHIELD agenda and Lagos State’s THEMES+ vision,” he said.
He emphasised the strategic importance of Ibeju-Lekki, citing major projects such as the coastal road, Lekki port access road, Free Trade Zone, and the upcoming international airport. “Ibeju-Lekki is the focus of a new Lagos. Our planning prioritises education, health, environment, infrastructure, and security,” he added.

Committees at the retreat reviewed key procurement processes, including sourcing, issuing requests for proposals, evaluation, contract award, delivery, inspection, and contract management. The evaluation sub-committee reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, judging proposals on cost, quality, suitability, and social and environmental responsibility.
HOD Planning and Budget, Avose Senami Oluwakemi, stressed the council’s dedication to producing an inclusive budget that addresses infrastructure deficits and community needs. “This budget must prepare Ibeju-Lekki to shape a conducive environment for future generations,” she said.
Council Manager Otinwa Oladipupo described the retreat as a pivotal step in planning for 2026. “With the airport and coastal road coming, we must align local infrastructure with government projects and involve residents in making these goals achievable,” he noted.
The retreat will conclude with the harmonised 2026 budget being presented to the Legislative Council for consideration and approval.
