The 10th Legislative Arm of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has held a public hearing on seven newly proposed bills aimed at strengthening governance and improving the welfare of residents at the grassroots level.
Epe Insights reports that the session, held on Wednesday, 12 November, aimed to sensitise the public on the purpose and benefits of the proposed bye-laws, which cover key areas including land-use regulation, education support, transportation control, and improved administrative structures.
The seven bills presented include:

Regulation of encroachment on road setbacks and penalties for violations (No. 001/2025).

Establishment of the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Scholarship Board (No. 002/2025).

Ibeju-Lekki Market Regulation Bill (No. 003/2025).

Establishment of the Road Management Office and regulation of road users (No. 004/2025).

Regulation of commercial Okada and tricycle operations (No. 005/2025).

Street Naming Regulation Bill (As Amended) (No. 006/2025).
-
Proof-of-Address Requirements Bill for residents (No. 007/2025).

In his welcome address, Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Olayinka Mojeed Oluwafemi, said the bills are designed to make life “more meaningful, peaceful, safer, and better” for all residents. He noted that the proposals align with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda and Chairman Abdullahi Sesan Olowa’s S.H.I.E.L.D Agenda, targeting improvements in environmental sustainability, education, youth development, market operations, and transparent revenue systems.

Residents who participated in the hearing shared their support and concerns, urging lawmakers to incorporate all public submissions before forwarding the bills to the Executive Chairman for assent.
