The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has issued a strong caution to commercial motorcycle (okada) riders and announced the commencement of newly reviewed operational guidelines aimed at strengthening community safety.
Epe Insights reports that Hon. Olowa addressed worshippers during the Juma’at service on Friday, highlighting the rising security concerns across the country and the need for decisive action at the local level. He noted that Nigeria is experiencing challenging times that demand collective responsibility from both government and citizens.

“These are difficult moments, and they require firm and responsible actions from government and citizens alike,” he said.
The Chairman revealed that enforcement of the new operational measures for okada riders will begin next week, stressing that the initiative is designed purely for public safety. “These measures are not to inconvenience anyone. They are designed to protect lives, secure property, and ensure a safer environment for everyone within Ibeju-Lekki,” he stated.

Hon. Olowa also called on residents to remain vigilant and actively support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities or unfamiliar individuals within their communities. He assured that credible information would be treated with urgency and confidentiality.
“We need the cooperation of the public. Report any suspicious persons, movements, or activities that may threaten our peace,” he urged.
Reports can be submitted at the Local Government Secretariat or through security agencies, with verified whistle-blowers eligible for rewards. “Anyone who provides credible information that helps our security efforts will receive appropriate recognition and reward,” the Chairman added.
The new measures reflect Ibeju-Lekki’s renewed commitment to tightening security and ensuring the safety of all residents as the area continues to grow rapidly.
