The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has officially flagged off the construction of the 4.2km Onosa–Fokumade Community Road, marking another significant stride in the council’s commitment to infrastructure development and community progress.

EpeInsights reports that Hon. Olowa while speaking at the flag-off ceremony expressed delight over the project, describing it as “a pathway to greater opportunity, enhanced mobility and economic growth for the entire axis.”

He emphasized that the new road would not only ease transportation challenges but also boost commerce, improve access to schools and healthcare facilities and strengthen social and economic connectivity within the Ibeju-Lekki corridor.

The Chairman extended deep appreciation to the Governor of Lagos State for what he termed “visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to equitable development across all parts of the State.”

According to him, the road project reflects the Governor’s belief that no community should be left behind in the State’s developmental agenda.

Hon. Olowa also lauded the efforts of the Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Member representing Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I, Rt. Hon. Fatai Mojeed Adebola, whose “relentless advocacy, facilitation, and unshaken dedication” were instrumental in making the project a reality.

He reaffirmed the local government’s readiness to support the project to ensure its timely completion, pledging full collaboration with relevant state agencies and contractors.

“For us at the Local Government level, this project is a shared responsibility. Beyond building roads, our duty is to build trust and sustain the confidence our people have placed in government,” Hon. Olowa stated.

He called on residents to unite in safeguarding the project and to take collective ownership of the infrastructure, urging the community to embrace the development as part of the broader vision to make Ibeju-Lekki a model of growth and prosperity.

The flag-off event underscores the ongoing synergy between the Lagos State Government and local authorities in driving sustainable development across grassroots communities.
