The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, joined children in celebrating this year’s Children’s Day, with a colourful and vibrant event held at Elemoro Junior High School.
EpeInsights reports that the celebration, which featured a lively march past and cultural dance displays, brought together school children, educators, community leaders, and dignitaries in a spirited display of unity and hope.
Hon. Olowa, visibly elated by the turnout and enthusiasm of the children, described them as “shining stars” and the future of the community.
“Children’s Day is not just an annual tradition—it is a powerful reminder of the responsibility we bear as a government, as parents, as educators, and as a community,” Hon. Olowa said in his address.
He praised the bright and hopeful faces of the young participants, describing their presence as a testament to the promise and potential that reside in every child.
The Council Chairman took the opportunity to highlight his administration’s achievements in the education sector, reaffirming the local government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding, empowering, and uplifting every child in Ibeju-Lekki.
“We are determined to continue investing in the educational and developmental needs of our children because they are the future of Ibeju-Lekki,” he stated.
As part of the celebration, outstanding schools in the march past and cultural dance competition were rewarded with cash prizes totaling N2 million.
The first-place winners in both categories received N250,000 each, while the second and third-place winners went home with N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.
The event was graced by councillors, supervisors, members of the management team, traditional rulers, women leaders, representatives of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), and the Nigerian Army band, among others.
The colourful occasion not only highlighted the talents of the children but also reinforced the local government’s dedication to nurturing a brighter future through education and community support.
