To transform the landscape of education and job readiness in Lagos State, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Technical and Vocational Education, Comrade Giwa Moore, has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering young people through practical skills development.
EpeInsights gathered that during the Lagos Youths Skill Day celebration at The Events Centre, Ikeja, Moore brought together students, investors, industry experts and key education stakeholders under the theme: “Equipping Tomorrow’s Leaders With Skills For a Brighter Future.”
The event, which drew enthusiastic participation from students of state-owned technical colleges, served as a vibrant platform to promote the value of vocational and technical education as a pathway to success in today’s evolving job market.
Moore used the occasion to advocate a critical shift from the traditional focus on white-collar jobs to skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.
“We must prepare our youth for the realities of the modern economy,” Moore said, urging parents, educators, and policymakers to embrace a more practical, skill-oriented approach to education.
He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) and other development partners for their unwavering support in advancing technical education across the state.
The celebration marked more than just a symbolic occasion, it was a rallying point for renewed investment, fresh commitments, and growing momentum toward Moore’s vision of making Lagos a hub for skilled, self-reliant youth.
With initiatives like this, Giwa Moore continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening the technical and vocational education ecosystem, setting the pace for a more empowered and economically resilient generation in Lagos State.
