Federal Medical Centre, Epe has intensified efforts to reposition the hospital as a comprehensive one-stop healthcare facility through expanded specialist services and upgraded diagnostics.
Epe Insights reports that less than a year after its upgrade to a Federal Medical Centre, the institution has recorded rapid transformation across laboratory services and specialist care units.
Medical Director, Dr Adesola Kaka, said advanced laboratory investigations previously unavailable in Epe are now conducted at the centre.
He listed infertility investigations, hormonal profiling, Prostate Specific Antigen testing, cardiac enzyme analysis, echocardiography, and Electrocardiography among new diagnostic services.
The cardiology clinic now operates weekly with a visiting cardiologist, while specialist manpower has expanded to include a Paediatric Surgeon, two General Surgeons, and three Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr Kaka disclosed that the hospital has secured accreditation for Nursing Internship and is pursuing approval for Housemanship and Resident training programmes.
Construction of a College of Nursing and hostel facilities is ongoing through the intervention of Princess Adejoke Adefulire.
The Lagos State Government is also set to hand over the Accident and Trauma Centre within the premises to enhance emergency response services.
The Medical Director emphasised affordability and urged residents to enrol in health insurance schemes to reduce out-of-pocket spending.
He acknowledged support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu in strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Epe.
