Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has announced the completion of 10 new lock-up shops at Iraye Market, in a move aimed at boosting commerce and supporting traders within the community.
EpeInsights gathered that the new shops, which are part of an ongoing market development project, represent a significant milestone in the council’s commitment to improving infrastructure and creating enabling environments for business growth.
According to the council’s Media and Publicity unit, while the newly completed block of shops is now ready for use, work is still in progress on the Keeclam shops within the same market.
The statement emphasized that the administration remains determined to deliver modern, accessible, and functional market facilities for all residents.
Speaking on the development, the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to infrastructural renewal and economic empowerment.
He noted that the project aligns with the council’s broader vision of strengthening grassroots commerce and building a prosperous community.
“This milestone is not just about physical structures but about creating opportunities for our people. Traders are the lifeline of our economy, and providing them with decent, secure, and accessible spaces to carry out their activities will go a long way in boosting productivity and improving livelihoods,” he said.
Residents and market stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely intervention that will enhance trading activities, decongest makeshift stalls and attract more buyers to the area.
The completion of the shops at Iraye Market adds to the list of ongoing projects under the current administration, which has consistently emphasized investment in infrastructure, commerce, and community development.
