The Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has ramped up efforts to improve basic education infrastructure with the commissioning of several school projects across the community.

EpeInsights reports that the Council Chairman, Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, unveiled newly constructed classroom blocks, perimeter fencing, and learning materials in multiple public schools as part of his administration’s push to create safer and more conducive learning environments.

The projects include a six-classroom block equipped with modern toilets at St. Joseph’s RCM Primary School in Ibonwon and a three-classroom block with furniture at UPE Primary School in Odogbawojo.

Perimeter fences were also completed at schools in Igbooye, Imokun, and Ilara to curb trespassing and enhance security for pupils.

In addition, 80,000 exercise books were distributed to 19 public primary schools across the LCDA.

Parents welcomed the intervention, describing it as a relief amid rising living costs. “This gesture will go a long way in reducing the cost of buying books for our children,” said Mrs. Aina, a parent at UPE Primary School.

Teachers also applauded the efforts. Former principal of Odomola Junior Secondary School, Mrs. Jonathan, noted that the new classrooms would help ease overcrowding. “These new blocks will reduce pressure and help both teachers and pupils focus better,” she said.

Akinloye, addressing residents during the commissioning, called for joint responsibility in preserving the facilities. “Education is a shared responsibility. These classrooms belong not just to the school but to the entire community,” he said.

He acknowledged the support of stakeholders, particularly the 1994 alumni of Odomola Junior Secondary School, who have consistently backed educational development in the area.

The chairman pledged to sustain the momentum in his second term, assuring residents that more projects were underway.

Community leaders described the initiative as timely, saying it would not only improve learning outcomes but also restore public confidence in rural education.
